HOW DOES A WEBSITE LIKE THIS BEGIN?

This website began as a gift to the museum from Gouverneur native, Lea Dickson. Lea, daughter of the late Andrew and Norinne Seaker Dickson, grew up in the village along with her two brothers, Jeff and Greg. Lea's family owned Seaker Chevrolet (Recently D.J. Walters) and she has deep roots in Gouverneur and surrounding area. As of the summer, 2009, the Gouverneur Museum website was one that had been done 12 years ago by a student tech club.

As a gift to the museum, Lea purchased the web domains and asked Rainbowtech Designs to create a page with current Museum information. Web hosting would be donated for one year. The gift was an effort to not only update the museum's web presence, but also to make the community aware of what a treasure the museum is to the Gouverneur area.

The Gouverneur Museum Board received the gift of an updated website with open arms and decided that Rainbowtech Designs (Shari Barnhart) should expand the project and make some of the museum's resources available on the Internet. The site was completed in collaboration with the Historian, Joe Laurenza and the Museum Board of Directors and launched in December, 2009.
